@azonenberg@ioc.exchange what does an inspection entail in the military? obviously these are still safe to eat, otherwise i wouldve realized they make me sick and stopped eating them a while ago

@ashten@woem.men I think it's basically open a few cases at random, look for water damage, signs something was chewing on the pouches, etc. Then open a few pouches, check for damage to the individual items (plastic layer delaminating, any signs of puncture, funny smells, etc). Then open some of the individual items and taste-test. Items degrade in palatability long before they become unsafe to eat, there's some informal guidance from troops on which items tend to start tasting funny first and so they bias the inspections towards those items.
