@Hex@kolektiva.social This idea is also a customer-hostile belief that you really wouldn't get away with if you were actually trying to gain market share. Henry Ford (to whom this quote is often incorrectly attributed) wasn't a genius who knew what people wanted better than they themselves knew. "Visionaries" almost never know better than the end-user what the end-user really wants and even when their products take off, it's being used in a totally different way from what they imagined.

@Hex@kolektiva.social Yeah, this stuff is all extremely well-documented by now, for anyone who is not intentionally trying to avoid learning about it. :queer100: ...and I think your analogy is especially helpful in that it doesn't take the extremist "AI is all automatically crap and bad" POV but rather "AI is a tool to be used only with great care, because it can really wreck things when misused and it costs a lot of resources but there is nonetheless a lot of value in it when used appropriately". ...or something along those lines. [/opinion]
