Every so often I consider self-hosting my own website, but I'm feeling more and more like I do not want to do that, I want an organization that I can trust to take care of things so that I do not have to. And enough control and open standards so that if something goes wrong, I can migrate. the idea of doing everything myself so that I don't have to trust anyone to manage it for me just does not feel viable (I am not looking for web hosting suggestions)

@b0rk@social.jvns.ca perfectly logical - you are commodifying your complements. Unless you derive joy from hosting yourself it makes perfect sense to spend your time elsewhere. As long as your stack allows you to easily move to at least two other independent providers.

@b0rk@social.jvns.ca Yeah we've managed to make it exhausting, and I've kinda got a trace of technical patterns and decisions that drove us here. It goes back surprisingly far.
