@iris_meredith@mastodon.social It’s an interesting dynamic because fireworks were not approved by modern society - gunpowder is 9th (?) century technology. They were banned. It’s all about societal tolerance for (mostly) accidental harm. I loved setting off fireworks as a young kid. Then the (Australian) Government banned using fireworks without a permit - other than cracker night in the Northern Territory - because the fun wasn’t worth the injuries and property damage.
