@decryption@aus.social @mattrobertson@aus.social when we got our Sigenergy battery I got them to move our existing EV charger onto the Sigen gateway's "smart port". This feature lets you enable or disable "battery boost" for the connected load (i.e. does it discharge the battery or not). Plus can switch that load on/off manually, or automatically based on PV surplus. That said, in retrospect I think I overthought the "don't charge car from house battery" thing. When the car has needed charging at full power (rather than only from surplus solar) I have let it discharge the house battery, like Matt says might as well use the free energy you already have stored. Probably if the car was charging like that all the time I wouldn't do it though, to avoid the accumulated charge cycles on the house battery. 🤷‍♂️ Edit: clarified about surplus solar
