@Rycochet@furs.social Yes, it's no sweat off their brow now. But really dim on George's part, because he seems to not realize that what enthralled people about the Star Wars films was the human accomplishment of its cast and crew. The art design and cinematography, miniatures and mattes, creature and droid getups, and the charisma of the actors. If he really thinks it's fine to crank out new product with genAI, he's clueless to the fact that it will quickly devalue the franchise down to nothing

@ophiocephalic@kolektiva.social @Rycochet@furs.social he's never been the peerless creative genius he's made himself out to be; most of the work that people actually love comes from the period when he was married to Marcia Lucas, who is reported to have made many suggestions for Star Wars that made it the beloved classic that it is. Once they divorced, much of the heart dropped out of his work and nothing he's done since has stood the test of time in the same way. Familiar story, really: man takes credit for a woman's ideas and skates to undeserved glory.

@ophiocephalic@kolektiva.social the exact reason I'm ultimately not impressed by the majority of art (or movies or music) made today. Its not good, AND it didnt take effort. I mean back in the day even if something wasnt that good, I could appreciate the effort. Now its all low effort slop. Example. In my music projects we record all live. Sometimes to tape. Very very little edits if any. Very few overdubs. Find ANYONE else doing this, its very hard. Its overprocessed to death. Other than indie and deathmetal.
