The fucking dark patterns and lazy vibe coded bullshit permeating all the systems we use for work and play has to STOP. I am so pissed off.

Why the fuck has it been normalized to listen to music through a shitty phone speaker ? Drives me absolutely insane. One of the many horrible things about modern society. Dont show me a fucking song you like through your phone speaker. We have had headphones and speaker systems for over a century.

Its crazy how younger people will prefer motion plus and such on TVs... Gosh it looks so terrible. Give me a dvd over component on a CRT any day! I'm sure this is just a diffetence of age (25+). But motion plus and such on streaming just looks wrong and like a cheap soap opera. Watch The Edge on VHS and tell me thats not peak cinema!

Pretty sure I looked up once that there's enough land on earth for every human adult to have 1.5 acres of liveable land (ie, not including the top of Everest etc. Pretty crazy.

Just emailed my rep! Reminder [USA]: The fight against age verification is still on - Everyone knows Meta lobbied for these laws - Everyone knows it's not "for the children" - My friends and neighbors care about privacy and we are watching how you vote - A vote for age verification is a clear indicator that you work for corporations and not constituants If your state is blue or light blue on this map, *you* are under threat of age verification laws! https://en.w...

Being smart and cautious about tech and llms feels exactly how it must have felt hundreds of years ago trying to tell the people *not* to shove lead pipes in absolutely everything and maybe think about it first, while also bring laughed at that you're "stuck in the past old man!"

How do you keep motivated to create? Honestly even since the internet became widespread (and before llm slop) I found it tough to think that among billions of humans and an album release every minute of every day that its worth spending time and money making music no one will ever hear or appreciate, if they even think its good. It seems more worthwhile to do nothing, or something less time consuming There's also the fact that everything has been done. Nothing is new.

Not enough outrage (in general...) But also for the fact that by 2027 cars will be complete rolling surveillance machines (they already are) monitoring your eyes heart rate and breath contents and sending it all to a 3rd party ai sloperator to deem if you're fit to drive. Surely nothing can go wrong here. Man, I hate this decade so much. Hard to imagine it can get worse but it will.

@Ilixtze@lemmy.ml @FauxLiving@lemmy.world I'm sorry but you're incorrect, the very large majority of corn in the US goes to fuel ethanol to feed cars. Only a small percent goes to food, and its shit like corn syrup thats horrible for you anyway. Stop using millions of acres for corn, use some for panels and wind and let the rest return to natural prairie as it should be.

The Grapes of Wrath vs Atlas Shrugged: Reading one of them makes you root for humanity and justice, community and improving everyone's lives. The other one makes you feel like a big important main character, that you're the only one that matters, and you deserve to own a million acres of land; the poor are poor because its their fault. It would be interesting to see a study on this.
