In a somewhat culmination, one evenually climbs up to Oka to get THE voew wjhere on a good day, you see the Venetans hospotal on the Island of Montrea and if lucky Mont Ropyal at a distance. Having biked from Vancouver, this was a big accomplishement.
The forest in picture 2 because the point of the Mowhaks defending their territory from the Oka mayor wanting to expand his golf course onto their land, and there was the Canadian Army right at that spot.

And another big milestone for me, taking the Oka ferry across Lac des Deux Montagnes (technically Ottawa River). This was still the small wooden tug pulling a barge with a rope, and the expert dad (and later his son) able to accelerate, theh move tug out of the way so barge would get to dock on inertia with tug now on its side to do the final adjustements. Business was sold and the new guys didn't have that touch and added engines around the barges to turn them into ferries.
