@cmccullough@polymaths.social @nixCraft@mastodon.social was on Linux my first two years (mid-90s), then moved to BSD and never looked back. The stability, consistency, and overall ethos is far more conducive to what I was to do with computers (use them for stuff, not spend time trying to make them work correctly)

My Linux Mint install turned out to be complicated, because my laptop is old; I only managed it because of Fedi help but have been happy with it. If it’s that hard or harder to switch, it’d be a tough move for me.

  • @darkuncle@infosec.exchange Nice! Thanks for sharing. I've been a Linux user for 30+ years, with my first distro being Slackware. I used FreeBSD on and off for a few years, but I think it might become my main OS. Things have really changed. I like what they are doing for the desktop and laptops. @nixCraft@mastodon.social
