I know environmentalists are concerned about this government's back track on co2 emissions goals.
But, l think it import to focus efforts where they make a difference. Since I was in school, global concentrations of CO2 have increased ~110 ppm.
Canadas portion of that amount is about 2 ppm. 2.
That's all of Canada.
Oil Sands, transport, manufacturing, etc …
Enabling other jurisdictions to move from coal, for example to LNG decreases the global emissions far more than allowing a performative goal to dictate our policies. Up until now federal governments have pretended to try for the goal. Reality is more important.

What it does is continues to line the pockets of the fossil fuel conglomerates that lied and got us into this mess. Further, the post-Iran war energy strategy of potential LNG clients is to move away from any imported fuel and investing in renewables as part of national defence and energy sovereignty
