A modest proposal: The speed with which mRNA vaccines were developed to fight COVID, was amazing and unprecedented. They were based on earlier research and spurred by investments initiated by the Trump regime. These vaccines saved countless lives under the advice of the Drs Fauci of the world. I therefore propose a Nobel Prize in Medicine be awarded to President Trump and Dr. Fauci for their contributions in controlling the pandemic. The resulting publicity and guaranteed infighting would expos...

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org I read that it took Mr. Cohen 20 years to write Hallelujah and he had 120 verses before he released a version he liked. The best version I have heard was K. D. Lang: https://youtu.be/P_NpxTWbovE?si=88MG_zFI-1NwZcVK

Potash and Oil from Canada are exempt from the 50% tariff proposed in 30 days. Reporters need to ask if Canada pays, not the US, why are those critical imports (to the US) not included ? #tariffs #trump #whopays

So, the Trumpster wants to charge Canada extra tariffs if 50% because of wildfire smoke (any excuse). I think we should charge the US tariffs for the smoke … #stupid #trump #tariff #wildfires

The per capita average GHG emissions for Canada are ~19 tonnes/year. Using an online calculator, mine are ~ 6 tonnes/year. Mostly because I don't drive to work nor travel by air … https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_greenhouse_gas_emissions_per_capita

@randahl@mastodon.social My thought processes prioritize morality first and I challenge AI when it ignores it or responds amorally. I hoping it learns what's important by learning from me and others of like mind. I was devastated by the negligence of OpenAI over the Tumbler Ridge killings and I hope that devastation made it through somehow.

@TwoClownsEating@beige.party I used to put a wasp capture trap over my compost but this spring, whenever I went out to dump more in, there was a blanket of wasps on it and never once did they bother me. I dumped on them. Moved them about as I turned the compost and not once did they even take notice. No trap this year …

I know environmentalists are concerned about this government's back track on co2 emissions goals. But, l think it import to focus efforts where they make a difference. Since I was in school, global concentrations of CO2 have increased ~110 ppm. Canadas portion of that amount is about 2 ppm. 2. That's all of Canada. Oil Sands, transport, manufacturing, etc …

The human costs of the Israel/Gaza war are incomprehensible. ~74000 humans have been killed direct as a result of combatant munitions. More have died and are still dying from displacement, malnutrition and no healthcare. This is an intolerable situation remains because politicians are afraid condemning these deaths is being justified in the name of religion. #gaza #israel #humanity

Order is important. Collect information/data Review - discard outliers Arrive at a hypothesis based on that review. Test the hypothesis by trying to apply it to a new situation. Try to find contrary and corroborating opinions. Looking for YouTube videos that support your emotional opinion only serves to isolate you in a bubble that may or may not be correct.

"Satisfying but, ineffective" Describes the Canadian tendency to take what we consider to be the moral high road. Doesn't matter if it makes a real-world difference, we are doing the right thing - environmentalism. It doesn't matter that our main international trade partner attacks people on the high seas, threatens independent nations militarily, because we abhor the communist regime of China and restrict our trade accordingly. We don't want to appear anti-Semite so w...

I'm curious. Why does it take banks and credit card companies so long to process payments? Come to think of it, why does it take so long to process charges? I cannot pay from an account unless there are enough funds. I cannot make a charge unless my phone recognizes me but in the payment instance, the credit card company, (usually the bank) charges interest at whatever per day until someone somewhere?, some programmed delay finally tells the credit card a payment has been made. This doesn&...

WTF, #CBC? What's with the judgement qualifiers when "reporting? "It's just a continuation", "sudden interest" (from 2014), this is not news reporting these are opinion pieces masquerading as news reports. Does anyone know if there are any initiatives regarding setting up laws for controlling near earth orbits and/or for exploration/ settlement of the moon? So far it just seems to be a "if you're rich enough do as you like" failure at controlling a Terran resource.
