@Kalogerosstilitis2RevengeoftheJunta@poa.st Most of the nurses I’ve had have been Hispanic, White, and Asian. I haven’t noticed too much of a difference between them. Some of them were kind of rude, some were really opinionated about how things should be done, others are less careful, but it was pretty random. Something I’ve noticed coming from academia is if a place has a strictly enforced barrier of entry, that basically acts as an IQ filter, and then using racial stereotypes becomes inaccurate. You might see more or less groups, but overall they are somewhat equally competent. So in academia, you might get far as a student because of your race (as we’ve seen with the niggy leaks from a few years ago), but you are less likely to make it as a diversity hire in certain field that have high standards, because at some point you will be expected to pass some sort of qualifying or performance exam. The NICU nurses I’ve seen have had to work 12 hour shifts and constantly monitor 3+ babies. You have to deal with random visits from family, nervous parent, charge nurses, respiratory nurses, and various doctors and surgeons. So I am thinking that those who get through need to pass a higher bar than those who work with, for example, the elderly, where abuse is rampant and the quality of care is much lower, likely because visits from family and doctors is less frequent.
