I see Linus is showing his whole ass on the AI topic today. "It's just a tool" and "the debate is over about if it's useful: it is" are just the "big tent" argument in another arena. It completely elides the ethical and moral questions about training and running the models themselves. By artificially narrowing the question, he absolves himself of needing to concern himself with any of the wider context, all of which is HORRIBLY NEGATIVE. He's preemptively declaring the problems out of scope.
