  This will likely be incoherent. The beginnings of ideas, hopefully some of which will resonate with someone and we can grow it from there. Starlink is convenient, but every time I see it mentioned I can't help but think of the evilness of Elon Musk and how close we are to Kessler Syndrome thanks to the irresponsible mismanagement of orbit (h/t @sundogplanets@mastodon.social ). We have the technology to improve terrestrial networks in traditionally less connected places. It would take work....

  A friend sent me a link to jolla . com last week. I stopped reading after the first mention of "AI". He implored me to continue reading. I counted 5 more instances of "AI" in the first text block and closed it again. I never did make it to anything about the supposed Linux phone everybody is talking about. #NoAI

  Despite upgrading to Debian testing with the newest Asterisk and adding an override to the systemd unit for After= the specific network interfaces, it still starts before the IPv6 (or maybe the DNS?) is ready and fails to resolve an IPv6 IAX2 peer. I went back to the old "ExecStartPre=sleep 5s" kludge and it works fine. 🤡

  UX Wishlist¹ item for Firefox: When encountering DRM media, instead of putting up a banner at the top that shrinks the viewport to prompt to enable it, put a red box over the media in question with the prompt in it. Most of the time I don't care because I'm never going to enable it, and I get tired of having to [x] out the banner. ¹ I know Mozilla doesn't actually listen to user input so I vent here.
