I won't lie, I'm low-key freaking out. I have my workflows and my ways. I'm quite happy over here. I keep my software secure and up to date, and am currently the only person on site who uses a more secure login process than just a password. I haven't used Windows in any serious capacity since 2007, and any time I've needed to dip into it since then, it's left me irritated. But whether I like it or not, there's a strong chance I'm about to be forced back onto it.

To be fair, there's also a massive chunk of loss of control that I'm freaking out over, I guess. As it stands, I can install whatever I want, and use this PC however I want. Going forward, if I get moved onto a new system, I'm going to have to ask permission to install the useful little plugins and tools that I currently use that no one else in the organisation has ever heard of. And it's possible that that permission won't be granted, because the guy who's now in charge of it doesn't see the need. Also, up until yesterday afternoon I was under the impression that I'd be allowed to carry on as I have been. We even listed my Kubuntu machine on the Cyber Essentials form we filled in at last week's meeting on the subject. I figured that once MS365 was rolled out, I'd be given the opportunity to figure out how to make it fit into my workflow. But yesterday it became apparent that that's probably not to be the case.
