What's particularly galling is that there's no real reason for the change, beyond "It's what everyone else is doing". I never, ever go to them for IT support unless it's something that I literally can't access because it requires network admin privileges to allow on my PC. Things like trying to get it to work with the office printer, or asking for my dashboard server to be given a static IP. All the while I'm at this company, there's no reason why I can't carry on the way I am. Then when I leave, the PC can be wiped and set up with Windows for the next person to use. I'm sensible enough to not ask them to allow any weird, sketchy shit, and they ought to know that by now. But it's not personal, they're just taking the (reasonable) view that if everyone has the same PCs running the same software, then support will be much easier. But it leaves me feeling like I've been lied to.
