But we've been told the reason a thousand times. The Liberal government wants Canada to be an 'energy superpower'. A good number of us progressives who voted for that were naively hoping that would mean a serious transition to electric, a national grid, investments into wind, solar, battery technology, etc, with run-on effects in transportation, and it would be all ours. But no, it was all really a lot more shallow than that. More pipelines, bigger ports, at our expense for private gain. What's a little death and destruction? We sure are making a lot of money selling oil right now, though, aren't we? Well, us and the largely US-owned Canadian oil industry. Second day in a row Ottawa has yellow skies from the burning forests.
