@belehaa@wandering.shop @nxskok@cupoftea.social I think ABCD/F grades would be a reasonable step in the right direction. Right now I need to give students x/100 marks. And it’s hard to argue as to why a student with an 80 mark is better than one with a 79. But I could probably defend an A vs a B grade. Definitely pass/fail.

    @hannorein@mastodon.social @belehaa@wandering.shop observation: in some places, and ours is one, all that really matters to the student is the letter grade (maybe with a + or -), because that's what's used to determine GPAs. I don't award grades like 79: I round up to 80 or down to 78 as I think appropriate. I don't think anyone would object if all your % grades were squarely in the middle of the letter-grade range: all your B+'s were 78 and all your A-'s were 82.
