Like we’re tolerated. We’re appreciated as like… comedy or teachers or sex objects. As something. But we are fundamentally not seen as people in the same way. Like as soon as we step out of line in the slightest, the attacks come.

@FinalGirl@blackqueer.life lack of effective moderation tools is something I've noticed when I try to run my own instance and I'm wondering; do you think the problem lies in the fact that people tend to gravitate towards huge servers (like mastodon.social) instead of smaller servers, or running hosting their own instance. I like to think that encouragment of running small or single user instances would lead to better moderation and more diversity, but I dunno. Just very interested in your opinion on this.
