@belehaa@wandering.shop one of the best things I did starting in 2019 was to move to an upgrading system/policy with suggested/flexible deadlines on assignments. Assignments are graded as satisfactory/unsatisfactory with feedback and opportunity to resubmit (if initial submission was within suggested deadline or close). Final projects allow for students to pick relevant topic and also to a large extent format.

@belehaa@wandering.shop This works in relatively small classes (≤ 20) and even if a fair bit more work for me, I'm happy/satisfied with the students learning - and so are students with their grade (and learning). I do make them write (as an assignment; satisfactory if any/whatever submission with all Qs answered) a self evaluation towards the end of the class, assessing pre and (almost) post course learning. 2/2
