@matthew@social.retroedge.tech very nice, I'm still pretty new to using LXQt on lightweight systems and VMs, coming from BunsenLabs. so I barely customize it thus far. but I would like to be able to thwack the super key and type and have it search the menu, etc.

I think the reason you can't use just the super key to open the 'start menu' is that it is reserved to be used in other keyboard shortcuts along with other keys. When searching here's what I found: > Note: Assigning the Super key alone to the menu may disable its use as a modifier for other window manager shortcuts (like window snapping). And I do have it set up to be used with window snapping (super + numpad key). Here's a video that shows a bit of what I've done to customize:
