We need a name for the phenomenon where a technically inclined vocal minority tries to push a general-audience piece of software in a more and more technical direction, not realizing that it would come at the expense of practically everyone else.

People are saying that free software would be more popular if it had more UI designers involved. But there *are* lots of people trying to work on design in FOSS. They are just often really unappreciated here, because the audience that benefits from their work doesn't exist in our shared spaces. These people are out in the real world and have never heard of an "issue tracker" or "RFC" before.
