I feel so weird about titles. I see people who are “creative directors” but they seem more like people managers. I see “UI/UX designers” who seem to make more pitch decks than anything.
These titles are completely useless as a way to understand what someone actually does. It’s not just title inflation, it’s like... a title masquerade.

@louie@pdx.social The primary function of a job title is to indicate that the titled person must be shown respect in the designated area for the proper functioning of the organisation. This may or may not reflect the person's day-to-day activities. Job titles are largely redundant for people who are already shown respect, but they are vital for those whose gender, ethnicity, age, or some other factor means they don't automatically have social status.
