the thing i don't understand about individual vibe-coders working with a personal account is: why are you spending all this time developing work habits with a tool that will absolutely be taken away from you at some point??? there is **zero** chance the subscription model is going to continue to exist. they must know this.

@peter@thepit.social anyone else think that people that vibe code, are like the VBA coders of 20 years ago? They can create tools and apps that are superficially useful and impressive. But they don't have the knowledge to create a well engineered and supportable product. So like the curse of shadow IT using Excel macros and Access databases, it's going to take years of pain while proper development supports the slop because it has to, and slowly replaces it once everyone realises the damage done.

@peter@thepit.social They must no such thing. People are remarkably blind to obvious pitfalls they'd rather not see. Cognitive dissonance ain't just a great name for a punk band, we are all susceptible to it.

ok, maybe they want to build for free while the AI labs are giving away free treats, but then they built something that they can't maintain or change once the treats are taken away. so in the end, they still just wasted a bunch of time. it's very weird.
