lol I went down a RAG/semantic search rabbithole one time and it was soooo cool until I realized this has existed for **decades** and you can just implement elastisearch. difference was this took me a couple days, not many months and thousands of dollars. https://www.reddit.com/r/technology/comments/1vd0m4w/comment/p15jssv/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=2&utm_content=share_button

it's fascinating to me how many old, powerful people are rushing to doom the thing they are in charge of by squeezing extra lucre out of it now. the boomer generation doesn't believe in the future. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/world-cup-boycott-uefa-emergency-meeting-news-b3024441.html

the thing about the vibesession/Charts Guys/economic data discourse is that the kind of insecurity people feel in the US isn't going to show up on a chart. you can be making comfortable six figures, own a home, and have some savings and still know that college for your kids is the Hunger Games, you'll never be able to save enough for retirement, you can lose your job at any second, and bad medical news will bankrupt you.

tokens are VERY expensive (lol). enterprises want to bring those costs under control. only thing is, they kinda can't. https://www.endnotes.net/token-tangle/#the-unknowable-cost-of-unending-tokens

a pediatric cancer hospital near us is trying to find a Spanish-Romanian translator with translation training and 2yrs of experience. this is a kind of professional that, within the decade, will not exist. it won't matter how much you're willing to pay, you won't find anyone.

the problem with public policies to build tech hubs in cities like Barcelona is they don't so much create jobs as incentivize multinationals to relocate existing high-salary employees there. like tourism, this is good for the hospitality sector, but kind of a destructive dead end in most other respects.

the thing i don't understand about individual vibe-coders working with a personal account is: why are you spending all this time developing work habits with a tool that will absolutely be taken away from you at some point??? there is **zero** chance the subscription model is going to continue to exist. they must know this.
