@georgetakei@universeodon.com My thoughts? This could have been avoided, but he likes to be a "bad boy", and he's done and is doing far worse things. If he is going to take credit for successes - he should be held accountable for failures, especially those he has intentionally caused (DOGE).

People bitch about AI slop - but it's not the AI's fault. The AI just does what it does; it lacks the ability to reliably judge its own output. It's not a new problem - many or most humans also lack that ability. That's why we have editors and test audiences and standards committees and inspectors. The fault lies squarely on human laziness. If a farmer in a field plows a crooked row because they didn't bother steering the tractor - that's not on the tractor. Stop cal...

Note to self: Alan Turing was wrong. But not for the reasons you may think. He proposed the "Turing test" - if a conversation with a machine cannot be differentiated from a conversation with a human, it is reasonable - Turing said - to attribute intelligence to it. Turns out we have machines you can talk to now, and humans *regularly* mistake them for reasoning, and they're not only not thinking, they're often wrong. But this isn't about them. It's about us. We se...

@georgetakei@universeodon.com A weird public flex for someone running a business. That'd be enough to make me go elsewhere.

@digitalcortex@mastodon.social Yeah. Had a doctor once say "If you were younger I'd medicate you for ADHD" - and when I said "well why don't you?" He said - exact words: "You're high functioning and have developed coping mechanisms - if I medicated you now it'd ruin your life." Which, ok, maybe so. But it's exhausting.

    What's up?

Well poop. I put in a reservation for literally any model of steam machine: take my money! Got this: "When we did the one-time randomization of the list, your place in line ended up beyond the number of units we'll have in this production run." Valve needs to stop making interesting things if they aren't going to make enough of them. They did it with the controller, they did it with the steam machine - what do you want to bet they did it with the frame? I waited 2 years for...

Just a reminder - some of us seem to need it. When you are going to lunch with a group, and you don't like the venue - you don't just get to say "this sucks". It is on you to suggest a *superior* venue, not just shit on the choice. People who shit on the choice and do not provide better alternatives *don't get invited to lunch anymore*. And that's no fun. The above also applies to the rest of your life. Don't just shit on other people's ideas or preferences. S...
