@scottcain@genomic.social Creeps up on you, doesn’t it? I started writing my first computer programs in Logo (turtle graphics!) in the 1970’s when I was still single digits old. Bought my first computer at age 11 using my paper route money and started with BASIC. By the mid 1980’s is was an IBM PC with Turbo Pascal. Then Unix shell and C in college on Sun Microsystems gear. More languages followed over the decades—many learned and forgotten when I didn’t need them anymore.

@hal_pomeranz@infosec.exchange @scottcain@genomic.social Fascinating! I had a similar arc to you (Logo, BASIC, TurboPascal, C… and then a zillion others). I just had not attached the “50” to that! 😱🤣 Five decades of computing is an amazing number… although I think my milestone will be *next* year as I recall 1977 being when my friend Dave’s father brought home an Apple II, and everything changed! But I totally resonated with your original post. Right there with you! Thanks for writing that.
