@hzulla@infosec.exchange the pure Fritz DECT worked for me fine, although I haven't actually used it for a while, except to control some of the Fritz SmartHome wallplugs. (and I don't need landline phones anyway anymore...) BUT: The Fritz Wifi mesh was a desaster here, so I switched over to Unifi for a year now and disabled Fritz Wifi completely.

@jollyorc@social.5f9.de thanks! Are you using Unifi with Sonos and can you directly compare the experience? Do you happen to know how long Unifi supports their hardware? While Fritz offers pretty long hardware support, I'm still unhappy about vendor-mandated obsolescence for devices when using the vendor's proprietary mesh setup. My naive hope is that OpenWRT lets me keep working old hardware longer while still getting current bugfixes.

@jollyorc@social.5f9.de @hzulla@infosec.exchange I also switched from AVM to UniFi (Dream Machine Pro and some U7 Lites) and am very happy with the new setup. I still have a little FRITZ!Box as a Site-to-Site VPN gateway plugged into the UniFi router, but its WiFi is disabled – it just feeds the VPN back into the UniFi network. No experience with DECT unfortunately.
