@Simpike@mastodon.social @RogerBW@discordian.social @alicemcalicepants@ohai.social @stephaniewalter@front-end.social * That’s my next accessibility beef. Eyesight. Some of us gamers are getting older and didn’t have good eyesight as a youth. Please stop with the tiny icons to make more space for art. Looking at you Ise of Trains: All Aboard. You ruined the easy scannable icons of the original (and that’s why the new version is being yeeted from my collection)

@Simpike@mastodon.social @lordsplodge@brettspiel.space @alicemcalicepants@ohai.social @stephaniewalter@front-end.social The thing I've seen done more often than colour encoding is to give them some other characteristic too. So the apples are red but also the only apple-shaped thing, not just red cubes vs yellow cubes. Certainly when I'm designing components for 3d printing I try not to make colour the _only_ distinguishing characteristic. (Looking through my catalogue, I have not always succeeded.)

Althoguh the castles and cathedrals player pieces don’t appear to be double coded at least the spots they go on the board are…

@Simpike@mastodon.social @RogerBW@discordian.social @alicemcalicepants@ohai.social @stephaniewalter@front-end.social Scoville did it well. The many colours of pepper were different sizes. Innovation has symbols on the cards indicating colour (otherwise green versus yellow cards would be difficult for me) Crossing Oceans has symbols on the ship colours. A vast improvement from the almost unplayable Transatlantic. Forest Shuffle: Dartmoor has fairly easy to parse symbols. They’re a little small but ALL the darn symbols are too small in that game*
