Friends of the fediverse, my ability to use devices has reduced a lot recently due to a worsening arm and neck pain. I unfortunately rely on computers for everything (to make a living, for fun, for organizing, for communications and a good part of my social life) I'm (regrettably for the first time) about to dive into accessibility features of my devices to figure out ways to limit using my arm while still being able to navigate day to day activities so, advice from those with experience is highly appreciated! #accessibility #disability

@ammaratef45@social.coop It may depend somewhat on what's causing the pain, but when I had a similar problem awhile back, I discovered that just changing my chair and desk made a tremendous difference to how much pain I was in. Might need some experimentation to find out exactly what you need for your specific body. If it's available to you( I know that's a big "if"), a physical therapist might be able to do a lot for you.

@ammaratef45@social.coop I've got another account @clackups@social.noleron.com where I put all my experiments in accessibility. For example, I modified a keyboard firmware to be usable with one hand (but there's an option to do the remapping in the OS, so you don't really have to buy the new hardware). So, tell us more about your needs and we will figure something out. What's your primary OS? What do you do mostly, is it typing, or mouse work, like CAD? Will you continue working at your desk, or we need to think about a different workplace? There are also good Reddit communities. I like the disabledgamers the most.
