Pretty much what I thought.
And I have already questioned them about SQLExpress.
I know little of this business, but my experience so far is they know very little past windows applications use SQL (or SQL Express) so it's the only option.
Ohhhhh how wrong they are.
Fortunately, this is during an evaluation period and I will be telling my client this application is not fit for purpose.

Obviously I don’t know the specific use case, or anything about this app - but based on what you’ve shared I feel pretty confident saying it’s not the correct solution for anything with a dataset that large. As will be the case for basically anything that runs on MS-SQL, SQLExpress (pretty much any solution that requires windows server on the back-end). As you mentioned there are just SO many other, better options available and if they’re locked in to SQLExpress…. Fucking run.
