Apropos of nothing… @emorydunn@mastodon.tinycart.club and @xenonchromatic@mastodon.social both need to look at this now that it’s available to order in the US. https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-nape-pro-wireless-trackball-mouse

#Ansible nerds - for those of you managing large fleets and dynamic inventories, what have you found to be the most effective strategies to organize inventory groups? In this context it’s multiple domains, with their own group_vars but also trying to keep the roles and playbooks as deduplicated as possible. Are we creating elaborate groups for triggering the correct roles to apply, or are you pulling other metadata from your hypervisor/CMDB and firing roles based on tags? A combination of bot...

@emorydunn@mastodon.tinycart.club It’s infuriating. There are a few browser extensions that help with this, but nothing effective I’ve found for TV playback. 🥲

If someone had a need to start getting up to speed on #TypeScript what is likely the best book(s) to start with? I’m decent with Python but have zero JavaScript experience - and it seems I may need to learn how to build #Backstage plugins soon. I generally prefer hard copy for this kind of thing rather than video courses or purely ebooks if possible. I am a huge fan of #OreillyMedia and #NoStarchPress for what it’s worth. #Sysadmin #devops #PlatformEngineering #Books #fedirecommendations

This is really excellent news. Although it likely doesn’t address the fact that we have three letter agencies just buying this kind of data from mobile marketing platforms, fully side-stepping the need for a warrant. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jun/29/supreme-court-geofence-warrants-case-decision #supremecourt #privacy #uspol

Fascinating idea, though I can’t help but think it would just become some sort of attack vector of its own. Also given the push towards immutable distros (which is a good and cool idea) I’d be very curious how this could actually be implemented. https://www.theregister.com/oses/2026/05/11/linux-kernel-maintainers-pitch-emergency-killswitch-after-copyfail-and-dirty-frag-chaos/5237801 #linux #copyfail #killswitch #kernel #immutable #imagemode #bootc

I am not a network engineer. I have done a lot of network engineering things in my time. It sure seems like a majority of the difficulty with things like the #CCNA (and other industry certs) is mostly just memorizing the non-standard marketing term for a very standard feature. What the hell is EtherChannel? Is it different than link aggregation? No not really. So just call it friggin lagg or lacp like everyone else? #NerdRage #Standards #Cisco #Networking
