@GavCortland@woof.group Omigosh...was this bear adult-size?...was there a bear parent anywhere nearby?...I have all the wrong instincts about wild animals, whom I wish to make my friends. It sounds like you did just the right thing. 🙏

@SidFudd@4bear.com Usually I’m very fond of our local bears and enjoy watching them! This was a 1 year old—young enough to be curious but not experienced enough to know better. Size of a very large dog. No parent nearby. We all surprised each other in my backyard. Being big, yelling no, and backing up slowly without running is the way to go. Running means you’re prey. (Thank you, animal behavior major in college!) I’ve never been prey in this lifetime and am not about to start now!
