Argh fucking yellowjackets My lovely day of gardening was cut short by three stings, an EpiPen, and Benadryl. 😭😭😭 (Mostly precautionary— the last time I had a severe allergic reaction was in 2020 or 2021 after two stings a couple of months apart. Wasp venom sensitivity can fade over years, thank goodness!) I’m very sad nonetheless… The gardening was going really really well and it was lovely to be outside. Tomorrow, foaming yellowjacket spray of death and then more gardening!

Well, just had my closest interaction with a bear in the yard while taking my girl dog out to pee. 😳 It was a 1 year old juvenile who really wanted to interact with her while she was barking her head off. Closest was about 6 feet with me yelling “no” in my biggest lowest possible voice. Weirdly, throughout my life, I have learned that yelling NO in a big voice is remarkably effective against many things. Including bears. I would like a nap now.

Am extra gay at my very straight gym today—loving the new kicks, too—but damn the AC isn’t working well here. 🥵🥴

I don’t understand why some people’s first reaction to everything is an overly cheerful “We should have a meeting!” Are they lonely? Do they need hobbies? Friends? A congregation or a bar or a club or something? An email with a chart can be remarkably effective, Sandra. 🤨 😳😱

The thing I like least about grading end of term papers is that the bad ones take so much more time and effort than the good ones.

I just took my dogs out for their 8 PM business… And while I was standing with them in the front yard, I looked up and saw a bat swooping overhead eating insects! I always love seeing them 🥰 And, according to Chinese folklore, they are good luck! And I could use a little bit of good luck right now 😍

I got to do a rare thing today: I named a monetary prize for scholarship after my parents. Neither one of them ever did an undergraduate degree or anything beyond, but they have been so incredibly supportive of education for myself and my siblings that this was a wonderful way to acknowledge them. 🥰😭🥹

And after the dog park, we’re all now relaxing at home. They’re having an after dinner nap and I’m having a cocktail. It tastes autumnal and floral all at once so I’m calling it “Spring and Autumn.” 2oz brandy, . 75 sour cherry vodka, .75 rose liqueur, .5 st germain, .5 lemon. Dash of sasparilla bitters. 😋

We just took our year-old puppies to the dog park for the very first time… and it went extremely well! They had fun, the people were really nice, and it’s easy to get there. We might not go back every day because it’s a drive, but I think it’s something we will do regularly. I’m so glad they’re growing up well. 😅🥰😮💨
