what if she actually did write the works she promised to put on the imperial archives, and just never actually sent them? perhaps then would the incident resolvers be the first to see of them.

the 'Song' will be impossible to italicise (so that one can differenciate the Song dynasty from a literal song, they're pronounced differently too) sounds like a problem until you realise thats like the perfect pun (although it wouldn't translate to Japanese methinks)
