@bodhipaksa@mastodon.scot given the lack of viable energy sources for this other proposed "AI" data centre in Lanarkshire, what are the odds that this one in Fife is also vapourware? https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2026/jul/06/lanarkshire-scotland-ai-datacentre-project-renewable-energy We can but hope that someone will check.

    @marjolica@social.linux.pizza They quite possibly are vapourware, but not because the Labour government has been colluding with the developers to lie about its power needs. The AI bubble will have burst long before 2030, when the Lanarkshire centre is supposed to come online, leaving a huge mess for someone else to clean up. But they'll push ahead anyway, because in the short-term developers can make a lot of money and politicians can get a lot of kick-backs.
