  Just to note that according to the Guardian, with results in all constituencies and 5/8 regional lists in Scotland, SNP have got 57 seats and Scottish Greens now have 10 which is a majority for Scottish Independence isn't it?

  @ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us given the various rolling threats to the cash ISA allowance I would have expected anyone with any free cash would have used up their 2025/6 £20k allowance long ago. Those who haven't are no doubt the majority of saver and dis-savers who don't have the cash to save more anyway. Lets see what happens now we have a new financial year, though I'd imagine most will be reluctant to put too much money in stocks and shares ISA rather than a cash ISA in a falling market.

  @hermitofalba@mastodon.scot the problem isn't with having to alter our external time-pieces - most of the important ones, such as alarms and heating controllers, now make the change automatically. The problem is that the change scews up our biological clocks. Time to get rid of this ridiculous tradition.

  @CppGuy@infosec.space of course one change that they should get onto immediately is decoupling the price of electricity from the price of gas. The price should only increase for the proportion for generation that comes from gas, with the current marginal pricing policy it just goes up in proportion to the gas price with most of that going to profit. Ths would immediately transform the economics of heat pumps which with current fuel prices are only marginally cost effective. With gas prices go...

Back in the early 1970s I was running a program (possibly a oil refinery model I was using to assess the cost of taking lead out of petrol in Japan) remotely on a timeshared mainframe in I think Texas. The program parameters were stored locally on paper tape.

  @statsguy@mas.to a point I've previously made in relation to how many EV charging points there are vs. number of petrol pumps (there are now slightly more public EV charging points than pumps). However given my very limited annual mileage these days, mostly on short journeys, I doubt if I would be all that troubled by this if I were to have to replace my 10 year old Skoda Fabia Combi (and unlike your Skoda it has been almost entirely reliable) but equally I can't see a case for replacing...

  @junesim63@mstdn.social seemingly the big challenge is going to be to get enough good Green candidates to stand in the London seats that they might potentially win. What they don't need is to repeat what Reform did and put up a lot of entirely useless ones, even beyond what you might expect from anyone who can espouse what in Reform's case pass for policies, who then make a complete pigs ear of running their councils.
