Okay, I took a rest day and I'm eating breakfast and getting on the road earlier today. The plan is Burlington as my stop for the evening. I'm averaging about 10 mph in the heat & humidity with the acoustic bike, which would be 5 hours although I'm probably going to stop and jump in the lake at least once and probably multiple times.
For context I think of 15 mph as average biking speed on my previous acoustic bikes at home, and 11-13 mph is gentle, controlled city riding in SF on our "green wave" bike routes that have timed lights like certain points on Valencia (& Fulton maybe?).

I know flats can happen anywhere but I am inclined to blame America for this one. I noticed my tire getting soft about a half mile past a construction site. I walked half an hour to a sporting goods store on a map(and picked up an open pocket knife that was on the side of the road that I might have otherwise biked over, so things could absolutely be worse) where they unfortunately don't sell bike tubes, so I'm waiting at the brewpub next door for a tow truck.

@thesquirrelfish@sfba.social Jumping in lakes is highly recommended whenever that's an option!
