Needing a hip replacement meant I couldn't get up a stepladder to retrieve a new canvas from store so I tried to hook one from below, Almost worked until the corner of said canvas hit me full force in the forehead. @BlueAppaloosa@sunny.garden People link successsuffering, in other areas, too. I suspect it's because great effort is often exerted in pursuit of success. But great effort can also cause suffering in the form of exhaustion. So... Effort -> success ...and also... Effort -> suffering But there's no reason the opposite is true. That is... Suffering !-> effort -> success Therefore, suffering does not cause success, and that's a mathematical fact. Q.E.D.
