“But if we abolish the police, who will you call when there’s a crime??” Hmm, let’s check in with this store owner who begged the police for help for *weeks* but then got arrested and charged himself for finally fighting back against someone smashing his windows. And he’s even a white dude! Just imagine if he weren’t.
I don’t know what an ideal post-abolition world would look like, but that doesn’t mean we should keep the current system.

I’m not saying it’s right to cause bodily harm to someone whose crime was mere property damage. I’m just saying police are useless for the stuff they’re “supposed” to be good for, but they’re great for maintaining the status quo. And the status quo includes several metric tons of racism among other problems.
