@ginaintheburg@mastodon.world In any case, suspending the red card once it had been administered in the game is pretty much unprecedented, and doing it at the behest of a political leader is shocking. This will forever tarnish this World Cup whatever happens next.

  • @mastodonmigration@mastodon.online I agree. It's such a shame. FIFA Prez Gianni Infantino's disgusting behavior toward Trump has already done that, even before this latest incident. Eg, the made-up FIFA Peace Prize he awarded Trump. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7406349/2026/06/29/fifa-trump-peace-prize-letter/ I think he's not just kissing the ring because of the #WorldCup. I wonder if he may actually like Trump's politics & wants to support them.

@mastodonmigration@mastodon.online @ginaintheburg@mastodon.world I mean, like giving the orange asshole a peace prize didn't? FIFA is a seriously corrupt organization, and has been for a long time.

@mastodonmigration@mastodon.online @ginaintheburg@mastodon.world It's not unprecedented. It has happened before, and for a Final.
