@Savagejen@mastodon.social @bitsavers@oldbytes.space counterpoint (as was diplomatically pointed out to me by That Person's manager): the "go-to" person may be easily nerd-sniped/distracted due to their neurodivergent traits.
Think carefully before bouncing up to their desk and giving them an interesting problem to chew on. It can be like scattering rice in front of a vampire and could really ruin their day.
Ask them if they can talk to you for five minutes when they have a moment, and/or talk to their manager first.

@WiteWulf@cyberplace.social @Savagejen@mastodon.social @bitsavers@oldbytes.space A few years back at my then-workplace of around 25 people, one of our employees did an interview study on ”information capital” as part of some graduate course. The end result was a paper and a flowchart of sorts with your typical knowledge repositories (wikis and whatnot)… and one extra box labeled ”The Solver”, a single individual who acted as a backstop when everything else failed. They even articulated that person’s pattern of getting curious and interjecting with solutions even when not explicitly asked to do so. I was shortly thereafter diagnosed with ADHD. The dots connect themselves here. 😅
