For the first time in a while, I have steered clear of news on youtube via podcasts. I just can't. It's been ten long hellacious years. All we can do now is vote and hope that in some universe, the effort will count for something.

I had a conversation with a local who moved here as an infant with his parents who fled Castro. I have thought many times in recent days of my elder neighbors during a former life when I was married. We lived in a neighborhood that was formerly a naval base. It's a very nice neighborhood and our neighbors were fairly well off. They had fled Castro. And now I think of this narrow vote in the Supreme Court over birthright citizenship and how Rubio himself may not have been considered a citizen.
