@chris@socialbc.ca If you have an EV this translates to about 150km of free driving every day, so with a bit of planning that's essentially "free petrol" for life, for some.

@chris@socialbc.ca @MrLee@aus.social Okay, let's put it into my personal perspective: The program allows 3 hours of free electricity up to 24 KWh. My home is fully electric. Heating, cooling, hot water, and yes a home 220 volt outlet in the 'garage'. And a small collection of small computers running 24/7. Averaged across the whole of 2025 (with a whole lot of bread baking) we averaged 16.83 KWh per day. With enough storage, able to charge fast enough, my bill would be zero.

@chris@socialbc.ca Not free; society paid for that transition through previous energy rates, taxes, or some other mechanism. BUT that's the best part of the story, truly - it demonstrates that whole-of-society level change to energy production and distribution is possible, and happening.
