@joelvanderwerf@mastodon.social The first live music concert I went to was when my parents took us to Hudson NY to see Pete Seeger and that sloop. The music! The message! It was a defining moment for me. My parents were GOP and the GOP then was the party that was concerned about our responsibility for stewardship of Earth. Looking back now, the strangest thing is how so many people retained their party identity even as the party platform changed. I for one stuck with Pete's message.

@sbourne@mastodon.social @joelvanderwerf@mastodon.social pete seeger, don mclean, all sorts of folks on that project. they reversed damage on the hudson and showed we could fix the damage we'd done to the planet. also share music and hope. we need more of that.
