I love Express Mode, especially when visiting a new city and I can just tap to ride the metro, bus or tram. In general, cities aren't very proactive at advertising when it's supported. Ads might say you can 'tap and ride' or use contactless, but rarely mention Express Mode (formerly Express Transit Mode). As a project, I’ve been building a site to document which cities support this, and which do not: https://expresstransit.com

This project currently focuses on cities that are popular with tourists, and gives precedent to cities with a subway or metro over places with only buses. I have also selfishly included more cities that I have visited or have direct knowledge of. Though some cities I have had to rely on research from local transit authorities and rely on what they say.

@jeremyburge Out of curiosity, if a transit system supporrts credit card payments ar fare gates, why would it not support express mode? What is required for express mode? Any fare validation sets some bit to indicate iti s a transit system? Or must each transit system be approved by Tim Apple personnally so that IOS will accept that transit system as "express" ?

@jeremyburge Helsinki info looks correct. (I usually use the HSL app.) But what is "Express Transit Mode"? Could the site have an explanation or link?
