Thinking about how I didn't realize how privileged I was as a teenager to have a grandad who was a former airplane mechanic in the military. Anytime my shitty $200 car was broken he would just say "bring it over". My car repairs were always out there, like he used pop cans to fix my exhaust system, but they literally never broke down after he'd done whatever he was gonna do.
I also remember that the only exhaust system he could find to fit my old car was a Cherry Bomb so anywhere I went I sounded like I had a race car. I was super shy, so I was embarrassed to have a loud car, but I miss that guy so much. I hope he knows posthumously just how appreciated he was and how loved he made me feel.

I also loved having to explain to the BCAA guys why they needed to tow my car to a mobile home park every time it broke down
