i haven't wielded a soldering iron in anger for decades¹ but the frayed wire on the multimeter probe² finally gave way and i had to unscrew the barrel connector and apply heat and tin. it went really well!
¹ my first job out of college was electronic test technician at ann arbor terminals. picture me with a soldering iron in one hand, a heat gun in the other hand, and a solder sucker in the gripping hand.
² that i ahem borrowed from bell labs. i apologize truly for my youthful indiscretion.

@peterhoneyman@a2mi.social did my first soldering job in years a few weeks ago. loose wire on my kx88 keyboard power jack. feels kind of good knowing i hadn't lost it. not the neatest job but it worked.
