Himalayan blue poppy, Tibetan blue poppy (Meconopsis). Endemic to the Himalayas, including parts of Tibet, southwestern China, Myanmar, and Bhutan. They achieve that striking color through aninternal pH balance within its petals that interacts with co-pigments, turning what would normally be a purple anthocyanin pigment into a vivid sky blue. #flowers #nature #biology #chemistry #plants #photo #science

@tangledwing@ohai.social D C, it pains me to have to ask this -- but these are the times in which we live -- can you assure me that this image of a sky-blue Himalayan flower is NOT Ai generated?

@tangledwing@ohai.social Is the Himalayan blue poppy related to the Norwegian blue parrot, by any chance? Does it only bloom on April 1st? Yes, I do ask a lot of questions. #Nature #Humor #BloomScrolling
