@therainingmonkey@toot.wales You can go "Create profile" - "use other server" - "use classic email as relay", and in advanced options disable "enforce encryption on all relays". You can then receive and write (cleartext) emails and anyone with an email address. Own email servers, or big email providers can also be used. However, all default onboarding paths lead to strict end-to-end encryption, and the use of #chatmail relays. Mass-users need to have fail-safe onboarding and a fully working experience.

@therainingmonkey@toot.wales @delta@chaos.social Exactly my feeling as well. First with the chatmail relays and now with the video chat feature requiring a TURN server, it's turning into "just another messenger" requiring its own dedicated infrastructure.

@therainingmonkey@toot.wales @delta@chaos.social I switched back to classic email as most of the relays were blocked in China. Classic email still working good with Delta Chat.
